Kopra Ridge Trek ( Khayar Lake Trek )

Kopra Ridge Trek is one of most interesting trekking area in the heart of Annapurna Sanctuary, which is also known as Khayer lake trek or Kopra Ridge trek. The trail is still visited by less trekkers and offer one of best views of Annapurnas, Dhualigiri and more mountains. Khayer barah Trek trail separates from Tadapani, a most popular trail of Annapurna base camp and join at Ghorepani poonhill. In the Spring, various flowers and rhododendron trees make this trail very interesting. The locals of this area offer very open arms and strong believes on colorful cultural traditions. There are two big festivals in Khayer lake trekking area in every year. All the locals gather together on the top of the ridge once in the month of March-April and another in the month of July-August. The ritual follows as per the tradition. In the first case the locals slain Yak and drink the blood while it is hot as they believe its the perfect treatment for any kind of illness. On the later occasion, during the day of sacred-thread replacement, people believe that they will receive everything they pray for. Especially the married barren women came to ask for the fertility of their wombs.

Day 1 Arrival in Kathmandu (1345meters). Our airport representative will be receiving you at Tribhuvan International airport in Kathmandu and will be displaying with DOLPA ADVENTURE TREKS AND TOURS signboard outside the airport terminal. You will be then transferred to your respective hotel . Overnight in Kathmandu.
Day 2 Pre-trip Meeting and Sightseeing around Kathmandu valley : Optional In the morning of after breakfast at around 8 am, we host a pre-trip meeting at your hotel in Kathmandu and introduce your trek leader/guide. Please seek this opportunity to ask questions about your tour in Nepal. After the meeting and a hearty breakfast, your sightseeing trip will start at around 9:45am. Sightseeing places will be : Pashupatinath, Boudhnath, Swoyambhunath stupa and Kathmandu durbar square. You will have a private vehicle and a professional tour guide at your disposal. The rest of your time in Kathmandu is free for further exploration and some last-minute shopping in Thamel area near by your hotel. Overnight in Kathmandu.
Day 3 Drive to Pokhara – 06 Hours. After breakfast, we will transfer to you in Pokhara with private vehicle. It will takes around 06 hours drive and take a rest in Pokhara. O/N in Pokhara.
Day 4 Pokhara to Naypul ( Drive ) & trek to Ghandrung (1940m) Drive to Nayapul by private vehicle and walk through the villages 4-5 hours t hen you will reach the Ghandruk village. Ghandruk is on of the best village with typical gurung culture and excellent view of the mountain like Annapurna South, Himchuli, Machhapuchhre, Gangapurna etc. O/N in Ghandrung
Day 5 Trek Ghandruk to Tadapani (2300 m) Trek from Ghandruk to Tadapani (2300 m) which takes about four hours. Another day ascending, but an easier walk now that we have found our trekking legs! Leaving the terraced hillsides and the village of Ghandruk behind we enter oak and rhododendron forest. This is a particularly pretty part of the walk, the forest often alive with the sound of birds, the small tumbling waterfalls and if you visit in Spring, (late March to April) the rhododendron in full bloom. There are no villages on today’s route, but there are a few teahouses at Baisi Kharkha providing welcome drinks and a place to rest. There are fine views of Annapurna II (7937m), Annapurna III (7555m), Annapurna IV (7525m), Annapurna South (7237m), Machhapuchhare (6993m) and Lamjung Himal (6931m) along the way. Our lodge at Tadapani is the perfect setting for sunset and sunrise views. O/N in Tadapani.
Day 6 Trek Tadapani to Baili Kharka (2900m) Trek from Tadapani to Baili Kharka (2900m) and it takes about six hours. We leave the main trail that leads to Ghorepani and instead follow a rarely used trail initially through a thick rhododendron forest that leads to local water buffalo pastures. The climb is gradual and we soon emerge above the tree line to superb views of the Annapurna range. We take lunch by a small stream and, in the afternoon, continue to climb gradually though open countryside to reach a small pass, where our trail descends through rhododendron to an open clearing, know as Baili Kharka, and our lodge. From the lodge there are great views of Dhaulagiri Himal. O/N in Baili Kharka.
Day 7 Trek Baili Kharka to Upper Chistibung (3000m ) Trek from Baili Kharka to Upper Chistibung (3000m) which takes about five hours. In the morning we descend through open ground and forest to reach the pastures of Lower Chistibung, where we take lunch. In the afternoon we continue to walk through forest, ascending gradually and passing through several buffalo grazing pastures to reach a clearing and temporary herders’ settlement, known at Upper Chistibung, where we stay in the small community lodge. For the next week we will stay in lodges run by the local communities. Peregrine has contributed to the construction of these lodges, which is all part of a series of local projects. Being off the beaten track the villages have previously not enjoyed the benefits of tourism. Now with the network of Peregrine Community Lodges, profits are going to benefit local projects and schools. O/N in Upper Chistibung
Day 8 Trek Upper Chistibung to Kopra Ridge (3870m) Trek from Upper Chistibung to Kopra Ridge (3870m) and it takes about three hours. To reach the ridge at Kopra we have a steady climb that takes us above the tree line. This area is noted for wildlife and we should keep our eyes open for Himalayan tahr and Danfe pheasant. The best way to tackle the climb is to ascend steadily, take our time and rest as often as we wish. We reach our campsite on Kopra Ridge in time for lunch and we will be greeted more fantastic views. This extraordinary panorama includes Annapurna South, towering directly above and only six kilometres away, and Fang and Nilgiri prominent to the north, whilst across the depths of t he Kali Gandakhi Valley, the Dhaulagiri Himal dominates the entire western skyline. The Kopra Community Lodge is the highlight of our work in the region. Profits from this lodge have contributed to the secondary school at Nangi, which we visit in a few days time. O/N in Kopra Ridge.
Day 9 Hike up to Khayer lake(4827m) then back to Kopra Ridge Early morning start to walk to the Khayer lake and temple. Both way to go the come back to Khopra danda is quite long walk but its worth. You can enjoy the great view of the mountains from lab of the Annapurna. O/N in Kopra Ridge
Day 10 Trek Kopra Ridge to Khayer Lake and Swanta (2270m) Trek from Kopra Ridge to Swanta (2220m) which takes about five and half hours. From Kopra Ridge we descend off the hillside and continue steeply downhill. There are a couple of options and, depending on weather conditions, we can either retrace our route back to Chistibung or follow a little-known trail that initially follows open ground passing through several buffalo pastures before entering thick oak and rhododendron forest that leads to the village of Swanta. Day 11 Trek Swanta to Ghorepani(2855m) Via Chittre(1400m) From Swanta we descend through the village fields to a small river and take a quick look at the local water mill. From here we cross the suspension bridge and head upwards to the village of Chittre, where we join the main trekking trail. There is a further ascent to reach the village of Ghorepani where there are great views of the Dhaulagiri massif and a well earned rest. O/N in Ghore pani.
Day 12 Explore Poonhill & trek to Nayapul(820m) – Pokhara. Morning we go to Poonhilll for extra ordinary view of Annapurna Massive & after breakfast, we all downhill. The walk passes through beautiful rhododendron forest and , village of Nangethanti & Ulleri . From Ulleri there is a very steep descent of over 500 metres on a stone staircase to the Bhurungdi Khola River where we cross a small suspension bridge to reach the village of Tirkedunga & continue on a more gentle descent to the village of Birethanti, on the banks of the Modi Khola and then cross the new bridge to the east bank, before following the river back to our pick-up point at Naya Pul. From Nayapul drive back to Pokhara an hour private vehicle. O/N in Pokhara.
Day 13 Free day in Pokhara. Today, You have your own free time in Pokhara. O/N in Pokhara.
Day 14 Drive to Kathmandu. After breakfast, we will transfer to you in Kathmandu by private vehicle. O/N in Kathmandu.
Day 15 Free day in Kathmandu. Today, Pax have their own free time in Kathmandu for their final shopping and packing. O/N in Kathmandu
Day 16 Departure to final destination. Morning time is free in Kathmandu and afternoon will transfer to airport for the final destination.
