Sikles Cultural Trek

Sikles Treks is recently explored and virgin trekking routes in the southern Gurung settlement of Nepal above the Mardi Khola (1,980m). You are approached through a close look at the formation of mysterious mountain wonders like Annapurna IV to the north and Annapurna II and Lamjung Himal. The spectacular short trek traverse a variety of terrain from low land villages up to the richest and largest of Nepalese Gurung (Gurkha) village as well as blooming forests of rhododendron in the spring.

This trekking trail is relatively developed one, although close to the main trekking region in the Annapurna. Few lodges or tea houses are available. The extreme beautiful and well kept Siklies Village is perched on a hillock at an altitude of 2000 meters. The trek itself is not a difficult one allowing time to study the wealth of flora and fauna to be found on route whilst also providing some wonderful views of the Annapurnas.Siklis is renowned for its well maintained rustic flair of traditional Gurung villages. The village has five traditional neighborhoods Lama-Thar, Sabha-thar, Harpu-thar, Dhaprang-thar and Gairi-thar each bearing its own significance in the community. The lanes of the village are narrow and flanked by stones. Mud houses can be also observed in significant numbers. The villagers follow both the Shaman and Budhist priests in their socio-cultural rituals like marriage, death and deal with ill fate.

The region is perfect for bird watching because of its pristine forested surroundings where various species of birds are inhabited. The trekking route offers wonderful views of the Annapurna and Manaslu ranges. You are trekked climbing though oak, rhododendron and bamboo forest and following ancient trails to the Madi Khola valley and stayed in the villages of Sikles, Tang Ting and Bhujung.

Day 1 Arrival in Kathmandu (1345 meters). Our airport representative will be receiving you at Tribhuvan International airport in Kathmandu and will be displaying with DOLPA ADVENTURE TREKS AND TOURS signboard outside the airport terminal. You will be then transferred to your respective hotel . Overnight in Kathmandu.
Day 2 Pre-trip Meeting and Sightseeing around Kathmandu valley : Optional In the morning of after breakfast at around 8 am, we host a pre-trip meeting at your hotel in Kathmandu and introduce your trek leader/guide. Please seek this opportunity to ask questions about your tour in Nepal. After the meeting and a hearty breakfast, your sightseeing trip will start at around 9:45am. Sightseeing places will be : Pashupatinath, Boudhnath, Swoyambhunath stupa and Kathmandu durbar square. You will have a private vehicle and a professional tour guide at your disposal. The rest of your time in Kathmandu is free for further exploration and some last-minute shopping in Thamel area near by your hotel. Overnight in Kathmandu.

Day 4 Drive from Pokhara to Bijayapur Khola and trek to -Kalikasthan (1370m.) which takes about five hours. A broad trail starts through rice fields near the Army Camp, and then ascends through Rakhigaon to a Chautara, a resting place under a large pipal tree. En route, you can enjoy the views in blissful panorama. Then the trail gently climbs along a ridge top through the Brahmin and Chhetri villages towards Kalikasthan (1370m.). At the end, you should climb a short distance to the campsite which is situated above the village with panoramic views of the mountains, Begnas Tal and Pokhara city. Overnight at Kalikasthan.
Day 5 Trek from Kalikasthan to LamaKhet (1680m.) which takes about six hours. You begin following gently a path passing through local villages of mixed ethnic groups and rice growing terraces up to Mardi Khola. Now the trek is easy as you walk along the riverbank. En route, you cross Bhaise, Nawaldanda, to reach Lama Khet. It is a small village where you stay overnight. This place is surrounded by lush green hills that stretch for miles which stirs the imagination for good thoughts. Overnight at Lamakhet.
Day 6 Trek from Lama Khet to Siklis (1980m.) which takes approximately six hours. The trail stretches at a flat level along the river bank until you reach Khilan Gaon. After this, you follow a path which is gently uphill for some distance and then gradually gets steeply up for some hours. En route, you pass Parju village. The trail again climbs till Siklis village. This is one of the oldest and largest Gurung villages found here. Most of the people hereabouts serve in the Indian and British Army. Overnight at Siklis.
Day 7 Trek from Siklis to Neuli Kharka or Forest camp (2200m.) which takes about five hours. This trek goes through rhododendron and oak forests following gently an ascending path in the beginning. After some distance, you walk over flat lands. The Forest Camp is surrounded by forests. Overnight at Forest Camp.
Day 8 Trek from Forest Camp to Ghale Gaon (2000m.) which takes about five hours. You trek through forests covered with rhododendron. While walking you cross the highest pass of this trek. After hiking through the pass, you descend steeply to reach Ghale Gaon. It is a small village which is mainly inhabited by the Gurung and Magar communities. Overnight at Ghale gaon.
Day 9 Trek from Ghale Gaon to Pokhara which takes about three hours. The trail then descends gently upto Hyangja (1070m.). You board a vehicle here to go to Pokhara. O/N in Pokhara.
Day 10 Free day in Pokhara. Today, You have your own free time in Pokhara. O/N in Pokhara.
Day 11 Drive to Kathmandu. After breakfast, we will transfer to you in Kathmandu by private vehicle. O/N in Kathmandu.
Day 12 Free day in Kathmandu. Today, Pax have their own free time in Kathmandu for their final shopping and packing. O/N in Kathmandu
Day 13 Departure to final destination. Morning time is free in Kathmandu and afternoon will transfer to airport for the final destination.
