The Annapurna Conservation Area is the most popular trekking region in Nepal. For an introductory trekking experience, this area is “ideal, with good trails and a plethora of lodges and tea houses along the way, a relaxed walking pace is possible and altitude need not be a concern. More challenging routes take you to high alpine areas in the heart of the mountains.
Above all, the scenery here is truly magnificent and quite diverse. Annapurna means Goddess of Abundance. The steeply terraced hillsides are brilliantly green with ripe crops in Oct/Nov. Beautiful rhododendron forests bloom in April/May, when orchids can also be spotted along the trails. And always, the snow-capped awe-inspiring peaks of the Annapurna, Dhaulagiri and Manaslu Himal tower above you. The sacred mountain Machapuchre (which is not permitted to be climbed) is visible from many of the friendly villages – lovely to gaze at while you stop for a cup of ginger or lemon tea.
We suggest you consider complementing your trek in the Annapurna region with a scenic flight over the Everest region. A visit to Chitwan Wildlife Park would also make a relaxing conclusion to your holiday.
